2025 | Sharing and witnessing to the Orthodox faith

The fourth "week of sharing and witnessing to the Orthodox faith" will be held at Taizé from August 17 to 24, 2025.

Participants are invited to follow the usual program of the Taizé meetings with the times of prayer, Bible introductions followed by small-group sharing and practical tasks.

Orthodox liturgical celebrations

  • • Tuesday August 19, 6:30am : Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Transfiguration (Juian calendar), in the village church
  • • Friday August 22, 8:30pm: Divine Liturgy in the Church of Reconciliation

Sharing of the Orthodox faith

  • • Monday and Friday at 5:30pm: meeting between Orthodox Christians according to questions and interests

Witnessing to the Orthodox faith

  • • Tuesday August 19, 5:30pm. For the Feast of the Transfiguration: let the light of Christ heal our wounds. Testimony of Higumen Danilo (Pavlović) and Priestmonk Lazar of the Monastery of the Annunciation in Žitomislić (Bosnia and Herzegovina), destroyed in war and rebuilt for peace.
  • • Wednesday August 20, 5:30pm. Searching for the Christian Community. With Father Petro Lopatynskyi, lecturer at Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy, Ukraine.
  • • Friday August 22, 5:30pm. “Send your Spirit upon us and upon these gifts”: a short introduction to the Byzantine Liturgy. With Archimandrite Joan Lena, lecturer in Orthodox liturgical theology at the St Irenaeus Orthodox Theological Institute, the Netherlands.
  • • Saturday August 23, 3:15pm. Understanding icons, representations of the Incarnation and tokens of the Resurrection. With Elisabeth Hériard-Dubreuil, iconographer, theologian and author.
  • • Saturday August 23, 5:30pm. The Council of Nicaea 1700 years ago: What difference does it make for Christians today? With Norman Russell, Orthodox theologian, historian, and translator.
